Blowing in the wind

A range of Tork washroom products has just been sold to an award-winning wind energy company. Renewable Energy Systems has equipped the washrooms of its premises in Kings Langley, Herts, with Tork washroom hand towels, soaps and air fresheners.
“We are delighted to be linked so closely with another company that is as dedicated to reducing environmental impact as ourselves,” said SCA Tissue Europe’s UK & Ireland Away From Home region director Alexander de Jongh. “The environment is at the heart of all our decisions at SCA - from forest management and manufacture right through to logistics - and we are continuously striving to improve our environmental status.
”Renewable Energy Systems is one of the world's most successful wind energy companies and in 2005 won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. The company owns and operates the 50 metre wind turbine visible from the M25 motorway.
RES is situated in Beaufort Court, a zero emissions workplace and visitors’ centre combined. The visitor facility provides a resource for schools, professionals, community groups, and other organisations wishing to learn about renewable energy and sustainable building design. The renewable energy sources on-site are designed to provide sufficient energy to meet all the needs of Beaufort Court.
As well as operating the 225kW turbine, RES has planted five hectares of energy crops and has installed solar panels plus an underground heat store, together with a ground water cooling system. Most of SCA’s products are produced from renewable and recyclable materials whenever this can be done without compromising safety and product quality.
Renewable Energy Systems has bought Tork Premium hand towel rolls, Tork Premium interfold hand towels, Tork Premium soap, Tork Premium folded toilet paper and Tork Premium Air Freshener.
These will be used in all washrooms.
