Cleaning ‘package’ for the NHS
Working in partnership with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Nilfisk-Advance has provided a standardised package of indoor and outdoor cleaning equipment for new healthcare centres in Ashfield, Balderton, Mansfield and Rainworth.
The package includes scrubber/dryers, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, polishers and outdoor sweepers. Using the same type of machines at each site simplifies training and allows greater flexibility in the deployment of cleaning staff, explained Steve Harrington, key account manager at Nilfisk-Advance: “Once we’ve trained operatives to the required standard of competence they can work at any of the healthcare centres without the need for retraining.”The new purpose-built facilities are part of the North Notts LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) programme - an NHS investment initiative aimed at improving frontline primary and community care facilities through public and private sector partnerships. Nilfisk-Advance holds a national contract with the Office of Government Commerce and its status as a ‘best value’ supplier was a key factor in the Trust’s purchasing decision.
Helen Crompton, hotel services manager for Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and responsible for facilities such as cleaning and catering, said: “Nilfisk offers excellent local support and was able to coordinate installation of the machines and staff training in time for the opening of the new centres.”
The indoor floor cleaning equipment used at each health centre includes a Nilfisk CA 330 compact scrubber/dryer for daily cleaning of hard floors in washrooms and changing facilities. This compact, multipurpose machine washes, mops, scrubs and dries surfaces and has a brush pressure of up to 0.29kg/cm2 for optimum cleaning results with minimum effort. Hard and carpeted floors are kept clean and dust-free with Nilfisk’s HDS 2000 tub vacuum cleaner, which offers an ultraquiet cleaning option and includes a HEPA filter as standard to capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns.
The HDS 2000 is complemented by a Nilfisk GU 350A upright vac, featuring a powerful 18.5 kPa vacuum at the nozzle for superior pick-up and flat-to-floor design for easy access under furniture. In addition to day-to-day cleaning, carpeted areas are maintained in tip-top condition using Nilfisk’s portable AX 310 automatic carpet extractor, which deep cleans in a single pass. The built-in brush action is combined with a three-stage vacuum motor to leave floors thoroughly clean and dry.
A Nilfisk SDM 43-DUO two-speed single disc machine for scrubbing and polishing hard floors completes the indoor cleaning package. A Nilfisk SW 700S sweeper is used to collect litter and general debris in and around car parks at the health centres. Easy to manoeuvre, the SW 700S is battery powered and six times more productive than manual sweeping.
