SCA Tissue Europe’s ‘green’ credentials have helped to win the company a Supplier of the Year award from The Consortium. The Tork tissue manufacturer beat off competition from five other shortlisted companies to collect The Consortium’s care sector award.

Daniel Baugh, category manager of The Consortium, said: “Through what has been a volatile period for paper products, SCA Tissue Europe has always offered products and support at the right price and quality, ensuring consistency and good value for customers. Their innovation and green credentials are key attributes to winning this award and help The Consortium enhance its commitment to providing original products with as minimal impact on the environment as possible.”

The Consortium, based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, is a leader in the supply of resources to the education, care and early years sectors. The care home sector is the fastest-growing arm of the company’s business.
The award was presented to SCA Tissue Europe’s UK and Ireland regional director Rainer Rossmaier by The Consortium’s sales and marketing director Brian Potter at the Care Show 2009 in Bournemouth.

“We were delighted to receive this award,” said Rossmaier. “The Consortium puts sustainability high on its agenda and is always on the lookout for products that help to reduce its impact on the world’s resources. Since we at SCA were named the world’s second greenest company in 2007 we were the obvious choice for The Consortium when seeking a supplier for washroom tissue products.”
