ShD Scotland - the first of three brand-new regional material handling shows from IMHX organiser Quartz - was a resounding success and paves the way for further exhibitions in the region.

Held at Glasgow’s SECC on 22 and 23 April, ShD Scotland featured over 50 companies and a live demonstration area. A showcase of innovative ideas to help reduce costs and maximise supply chain efficiency, the show attracted specifiers, buyers and decision-makers from a wide range of industries and from across the region.

Coventry’s Ricoh Arena was the place to be for carpet and window cleaners on 27 and 28 March this year as Quartz Publishing & Exhibitions Ltd staged Carpex Windex 2008 – the first time it has been located at this Midland’s venue.

The venue, which is part of Coventry City’s football ground and which includes a hotel, restaurants and function rooms, was superb. Everyone involved in the show – organiser, exhibitor and visitor – was extremely impressed with the venue itself and, equally, its location. Richard Johnson of Cleanfix said: "This was a thoroughly enjoyable show at which to exhibit. The venue was superb, and the very high quality of visitors made it extremely worthwhile. In 30 years of attending and exhibiting at trade shows I would say that this has been the most enjoyable and rewarding yet."

This year’s Windex saw the return of the Window Cleaning Competition, staged by the world’s fastest window cleaners – Terry ‘Turbo’ Burrows – at the Federation of Window Cleaners. Burrows used the occasion to try to beat his own world record and to stage competitions for both professionals and amateurs. The new competition for exhibitors was particularly enjoyable!

The ‘best stand’ award for Windex exhibitors only, presented by the Federation of Window Cleaners, this year went to Aquafactors Direct, who placed a fully loaded Ford Ranger vehicle complete with pole system in the middle of its booth.
