Coventry’s Ricoh Arena was the place to be for carpet and window cleaners on 27 and 28 March this year as Quartz Publishing & Exhibitions Ltd staged Carpex Windex 2008 – the first time it has been located at this Midland’s venue.

The venue, which is part of Coventry City’s football ground and which includes a hotel, restaurants and function rooms, was superb. Everyone involved in the show – organiser, exhibitor and visitor – was extremely impressed with the venue itself and, equally, its location. Richard Johnson of Cleanfix said: "This was a thoroughly enjoyable show at which to exhibit. The venue was superb, and the very high quality of visitors made it extremely worthwhile. In 30 years of attending and exhibiting at trade shows I would say that this has been the most enjoyable and rewarding yet."

Host von Schrader, through its parent company Racine Industries, has received the Carpet and Rug Institute's Seal of Approval for its Host Spot Remover and for two deep-cleaning systems.

The CRI Seal of Approval is awarded to carpet cleaning products that pass standard tests administered by an independent, accredited laboratory.
Independent testing for deep cleaning systems includes looking at the amount of soil removed, the amount of water left in the carpet samples, and the impact of cleaning procedures on carpet fibres and appearance.

The Woolsafe Organisation works towards promoting the correct care and maintenance of wool and wool-rich carpets and through its approved products scheme, chemical manufacturers can have their carpet cleaning products independently tested and certified to give professional carpet cleaners and cleaning contractors peace of mind.

As recognition for the Woolsafe Organisation grows, more and more chemical products are submitted for testing and in the past six months 14 maintenance products have been added to the growing list of Woolsafe Approved products alone. Not only operating in the UK, Woolsafe has operations throughout the globe and this has seen products in the USA, Australia and Germany also making it onto the Woolsafe Approved list.

Substantial performance and design improvements make the latest Attix wet and dry vacuums from Nilfisk-ALTO a good choice for contract cleaners, tradespeople and industrial users.

The versatile new Attix 30/40/50 range of 110V and 230V machines features interchangeable vacuum heads, powerful 3700 l/min airflow and 250mbar vacuum – based on an enhanced turbine design – and next-generation filter cleaning as standard. A battery powered model – claimed to be the market’s first go-anywhere wet and dry vacuum – will be added to the range in the summer.
