Oldham-based specialist cleaning company Techserve Solutions Limited has won a two-year contract extension to keep Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust windows gleaming.

“We are absolutely delighted to have earned this deal,” said Peter Whalen, Techserve’s director.  “It’s a major deal for us and we are very proud to be associated with the Trust. Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust boasts the fifth largest A&E department in Europe and its core building there consists of two 12-storey tower blocks housing ward and theatre facilities - so keeping the windows clean is a major operation. Earning this extension says a lot about the standard of our work there.”

Expolink is easing the management of hospital cleanliness through an automated real-time data collection tool for hospital related audits and continual assessments.

The mobile auditing tool helps support the management process of cleanliness and regulates cleaning schedules and team responsibilities.

As incredible as it seems, most people will contaminate a hospital or healthcare facility just by walking in.

After all, as there’s been much debate about the germs on doctors ties, cufflinks, and jacket sleeves, on mobile phones, pens, or even because nurses wear their uniforms to and from work, isn’t it about time that we remembered that as much as 80% of all dirt contained within any typical commercial building or facility open to the public is tracked in by visitors footwear.

There is perhaps no type of building in which hygiene is more vital than in a hospital. The subject of hospital cleanliness is the focus of immense public interest and the highest possible standards have to be maintained at all times.

That means that the winner of the 2007 Kimberly-Clark Professional and CSSA Golden Service Award in the Healthcare sector has to be really special. ISS Mediclean is one of the leading companies in the field, with a portfolio of over 300 NHS clients.  “Hygiene is vital in healthcare, which is why we decided to recognise the best the sector can offer with a special category in the Golden Service Awards,” said Graham Landi, UK and Ireland country manager for Kimberly-Clark Professional.

Anti-microbial technology company Byotrol is working with specialist IT cleaning company Techclean Services to lead the fight against superbugs spread through office equipment.

The move to address infection transmission in the workplace comes on the back of a study which examined bacteria levels on different surfaces in a UK office. The study found that the level of bacteria contamination on keyboards is up to 14 times higher than toilet seats.
